Activities
- Monthly luncheon at Original Pancake House the fourth Monday of the month.
- Coffee at Bevende in Siebel Center the first Wednesday of the month at 8:30am.
- Evening lectures roughly once a semester. The last lecture was Oct 23 by Ellick Chan giving a preview of his CCS presentation on "BootJacker: Compromising Computers Using Forced Restarts". Slides for the talk and recording of the talk.
- Recording of July's Penetration Testing Talks. Skip to scene 6 to get to the start of the talk.
- Recording of April's talk by Francis David, "Advanced Rootkits for the AMD Processor". The paper that this talk was based on went on to win the best paper award at this year's IEEE Symposium on Security and Privacy.
Security in CU
There are many computer security efforts in Champaign-Urbana ranging from standard business security to miltary-grade security products to cutting edge research. Here is the beginnings of a list of local security resources.
Communications
We still use the CU InfoSec Yahoo group for a mailing list to share timely information and cooridnate activities. We hope to add a web log and a wiki on the new site to house more persistent or more public information. If you have time to help set up the new web site please drop a note to CUinfoSec-owner@yahoogroups.com
